How about some genuine cross-curricular examples across the STEM subjects?

With the support of various companies in the UK, the Science Learning Centres and the Royal Academy of Engineering have developed 10 case studies that link the world of engineering to Key Stage 3 science.

These are not intended as 'add-ons' to your busy schemes of work, but as an alternative way of teaching the science you teach every day using authentic situations, processes and products. They have been written and adapted by practising teachers to demonstrate that engineering is embedded within the science currciulum.

One of the main reported outcomes was, that using them built up the confidence of those teachers who didn't realise that much of what they teach is used by the engineering world. Pupils gained insight into how the science they learn in school is used in the real world, and highlighted what an exciting and creative variety of STEM- related careers are out there.
